What the check actually reads
It analyzes pixel statistics, texture, and lighting for generation artifacts. It looks at the file in front of it — the statistics of the pixels, the way texture repeats, whether the light behaves the way light does — rather than comparing the picture against a catalogue of known tools. That is why there is no list of supported generators on this page: the check is not a lookup, and a generator nobody has heard of is not automatically invisible to it.

Screenshots, heavy re-compression, aggressive upscaling, filters and retouching all move a picture away from the state the signals were learned on, so a real photograph that has been through an editing pipeline can score high and a generated image that has been through the same pipeline can score low. A picture that arrived by way of three social apps has been re-encoded three times. The closer you can get to the original file, the more the score is worth.

How accurate is the detection?
No accuracy figure is published here, because none of the numbers this page used to print had a measurement behind them. What a check returns is a likelihood: an AI-probability score from 0 to 100 with a confidence level. Every detector, this one included, produces false positives and false negatives — a polished human photograph can score high and a carefully edited generated one can score low. Read the score as evidence to weigh, not as a measurement of truth.

Can it detect content from any AI system?
No detector can promise that, and no coverage count is published here. The check reads the picture rather than matching it against a list of known tools — it analyzes pixel statistics, texture, and lighting for generation artifacts. So an unfamiliar generator is not automatically missed, and a familiar one is not automatically caught.
Is the analysis done locally or in the cloud?
In the cloud, for images. Running the check uploads your file and analyses it on our infrastructure, so the picture does leave your device, and the run and its result are recorded against your account so you can open them again from your history. The text tab is the exception: that one runs entirely inside your browser and the text is never uploaded.
What does the result tell me?
An AI-probability score from 0 to 100, a confidence level for that score, and a plain-language reading of the two together. It does not tell you which tool made the picture, and it does not return a yes/no fact — the reading is a likelihood, and the confidence figure is there precisely because the score can be wrong.
How long does a scan take?
No timing is published here, because none has been measured for this page. An image check is dispatched as a background job: the studio shows it running, you can leave the tab, and the result opens when it lands.
Can I use this for content moderation?
You can use it as one screening signal, and only as one. There is no detection endpoint in the public API today, so checks are run one at a time in the studio rather than automated over a queue — and any moderation policy built on a likelihood score needs a human step before anything happens to a person or their work.
