Turn recorded motion into a rewind effect

A falling object rises back into a hand; a spill returns to its container. The tool creates a new video with the action running from the end toward the beginning. It changes the order of the pictures, not the direction of text inside them.

Pick a moment with visible movement and a clear start and finish. This is a saved backwards effect, not a player shortcut for scrubbing through an unchanged recording.

Choose the moment before reversing a long recording

Reversal handles clips up to 60 seconds per run. There are no start and end controls here: the entire selected file is reversed. To use one moment from a longer recording, cut that moment with the Video Trimmer first.

The engine decodes small groups of frames and writes each group backwards. It releases those pictures as it works, but still needs time to read and encode them. Shortening the source reduces the amount of footage to process; there is no fixed completion time for every device.

Decide whether the soundtrack should run backwards

Use Reverse the sound too to include reversed sound. When enabled, the engine reverses the available audio track as well as the picture. Turn it off if you plan to add music or narration afterwards. It does not keep the original soundtrack playing forwards.

A browser that cannot decode and encode the sound produces a silent video instead. Check the Sound result field: it distinguishes reversed audio, audio you removed, a source with no sound and a browser limitation. Listen to the result before placing it in an edit.

Check the size and clarity of the backwards export

The clip is re-encoded, so reversing is not a lossless file copy. The longest output side is capped at 1920 pixels on computers and 1280 pixels on phones. Larger sources are reduced proportionally, with dimensions rounded to even numbers for encoding. Portrait footage keeps its portrait shape.

The browser first tries H.264 video in an MP4 file, then a WebM alternative when needed. There is no output-format selector. Check the result resolution and inspect moving edges; use the linked 4K Video Enhancer for a separate enhancement job, not as a way to bypass this reverser’s output cap.

Run the backwards edit on the device holding the clip

The processing path reads your local video and creates the reversed file inside the browser. It does not send the footage to a server for reversal. Loading the website and processing code still uses the network.

The browser must be able to decode the source and encode a new video. A recognized file extension alone does not guarantee that its contents are supported. If the tool reports a codec problem, try an updated Chrome, Edge or Safari, or move the clip to a compatible computer.

Build the return half of a boomerang

Watch the turning point for a pause, especially if the same endpoint appears twice. Trim that join in your editor if needed. A continuous soundtrack is another separate step: reverse with sound off, then add a normal music track using the Video Music Mixer.
