Mark the stretch of recording you want to keep

Use Start and End to keep one continuous excerpt. This suits a lesson with waiting at the beginning, a screen recording with an unnecessary ending, or a phone clip with a brief useful moment. The tool creates a separate result from that interval.

Enter minutes and seconds, such as 1:23.5, or plain seconds, such as 83.5. To remove only the opening, set a later Start and leave End blank. To remove only the ending, keep Start at 0:00 and enter an earlier End.

Why a cut can keep frames before its visible start

Compatible video is copied when possible, preserving its encoded picture data. For an MP4 output, the engine can keep frames back to the preceding keyframe and add a playback instruction to skip that lead-in. Players that honor the instruction begin at the chosen time.

Some apps show those earlier frames instead. Try Re-encode if that happens. Hidden lead-in frames are still present in a copied file, so a visually clean start is not proof that earlier sensitive footage was removed. Re-encoding rebuilds the selected picture interval and can change quality.

Read the saved format and the actual cut interval

To trim a MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV recording, the video and audio inside it still need a compatible processing path. WebM and Matroska inputs produce WebM output, while other readable inputs produce MP4. A MOV source therefore does not keep its original extension.

A WebM cut between keyframes may need re-encoding. If the exact cut cannot be made and copying is possible, the engine tries the preceding keyframe instead. Read From, Length and Quality under the result, then play the opening and ending before using the clip elsewhere.

Fit the retained clip into the device’s memory

The browser holds the output in memory. Duration checks use the part you keep, not the full recording. A second check estimates that part’s bytes from the source size and the fraction of time selected. Phones use a 1 GiB estimate budget; computers use 4 GiB. These are checks, not guaranteed output capacities.

If a long selection fails, choose a shorter excerpt or try a computer. Copying avoids rebuilding every frame, but file reading, memory and any required re-encoding still affect completion time. There is no fixed number of seconds that every trim takes.

Keep the source local and listen to the trimmed result

The browser reads the selected file directly and creates the cut on your device. No media upload is needed for this processing path. Cutting a local recording still requires the trimmer page and its code to load over the network.

The conversion uses the primary picture and sound tracks. Compatible sound can be copied, but audio that needs conversion depends on the browser. Unsupported sound may be absent, and surround sound that must be re-encoded can become stereo. Listen for missing audio or an unexpected start before sharing.

Keep one excerpt or assemble several separate moments

This trimmer keeps one start-to-end range. It does not delete an interval in the middle and join the surrounding footage, find highlights automatically, or change the visible frame shape. For several excerpts, return to the original and choose a different range for each result.
