Changing the filename from .avif to .jpg does not perform that conversion. Keep the original and submit the converted copy instead. Check the destination’s requirements too: a supported format does not override its file-size or dimension limits.

Choose JPG quality after AVIF compression

Start with Quality at 92%, then inspect lettering, fine texture and smooth gradients. Lowering the setting asks the JPEG encoder for more compression. Raising it cannot restore detail that was already missing from the AVIF.

A JPEG copy can contain more bytes than its AVIF source even at the same dimensions. There is no fixed size multiplier, and this converter does not target an exact number of kilobytes. If a form still rejects the file for size, use Image Compressor for that separate job.

Transparent AVIF edges meet a white JPG background

JPG cannot keep see-through areas. Before encoding, this converter paints a white background and places the decoded image over it. Partly transparent edges blend with that white, which matters for logos, stickers and cutout product photos.

There is no background-color control on this page. Keep the AVIF if its transparency matters to your layout, or use a conversion workflow with a transparency-supporting output. Converting the finished JPG again will not restore the original transparent edges.

A JPG copy keeps the AVIF’s pixel dimensions

Conversion uses the width and height reported by the browser decoder. It does not request a crop, enlargement or a new aspect ratio. A small web picture therefore stays small when saved as JPG.

Large images still require enough browser memory for the decoded picture and output canvases. There is no verified file-size limit that guarantees success on every device. AVIF decoding happens in your browser

Your selected file is passed to a local browser engine for decoding and JPEG export. It is not uploaded for conversion. Decoding AVIF locally still leaves page-code downloads and website service requests that use the network.

On a phone or computer, use a browser that can decode your AVIF file. If conversion fails, try an updated browser and confirm that the source opens correctly. A visible preview does not guarantee the conversion decoder can read every AVIF variant; this engine has no separate AVIF decoder to fall back to.

Keep the AVIF original for motion and embedded information

The saved JPG is a still image built from the decoded pixels. This process does not copy the source’s camera tags or location fields into the new file. Keep the AVIF when those records matter; a sharing copy should not replace your archive.

Animation is not preserved, and the tool has no frame selector. It also offers no controls for HDR or color-profile preservation. Review brightness and color in the saved JPG when the source uses those features, and retain the original for work that needs them.
