Choose PDF paper dimensions for the destination

Page size offers Fit to image, A4 or US Letter, with Fit to image selected initially. The default makes the page follow the image dimensions. Use a standard paper size when a printer or document recipient asks for it.

On standard paper, Orientation offers Auto, Portrait or Landscape. The default, Auto, follows each picture’s shape, so a document can contain both tall and wide pages. Choosing a fixed orientation changes the paper around the image; it does not straighten a sideways scan.

Why a PDF can have borders with no added margin

On standard paper, the converter centers the whole picture inside the available area without cropping it. If the image and paper have different proportions, unused space remains on two sides. Reducing Margin cannot remove that shape mismatch.

Use the image-fitted page setting when you want the page to follow the picture’s outline. That mode ignores paper orientation and margin. White space already photographed or scanned into the image stays visible; crop the source first if that space is unwanted.

What happens to JPG detail inside the PDF

The converter decodes each source and saves a new JPEG image inside the PDF. This includes sources that already use JPEG, so conversion is not lossless. Transparent areas become white, and very large images can be reduced to fit the device’s canvas limits.

Start with a readable scan and keep the original. Putting a soft photograph on a larger page cannot recover small lettering. The PDF can also be larger than expected: image content, dimensions and the number of pages affect its size. There is no target-file-size control here.

Build a PDF beside the photos on your device

The browser reads your selected images and assembles the PDF locally. The conversion engine does not upload the sources or the resulting PDF. Assembling your document locally still involves loading the PDF tool and its website services over the network.

A phone, tablet or computer needs a compatible browser and enough memory for the images and final document. If a large set fails, try fewer pages or smaller source copies. Keep the tab open until the result appears, then check the reported page count and file size.

A PDF of a scan still contains a picture of the words
