Choose a color treatment for the picture you already have

The Look menu offers Film, Noir, Black & White, Sepia, Vintage, Cinematic, Cool, Warm, Vivid or Fade. The starting preset is Film. These treatments alter tones across the picture rather than choosing a subject or adding scenery.

Try a softer treatment for an album page or a stronger contrast treatment for a street photo. Compare faces, sky and dark clothing with the source. A mood you like in one part of the picture can hide useful detail elsewhere.

Why a monochrome preset can still show some color

Intensity blends the treated colors with the original. Its starting value is 80%. A partly blended monochrome look can therefore leave a trace of the source colors. Move the slider to full strength when you want a completely neutral black-and-white treatment.

The neutral monochrome preset uses gentler contrast. The dramatic monochrome preset deepens shadows and includes texture and edge darkening. Check dark hair and clothing before choosing between them; stronger contrast can obscure differences between nearby tones.

Separate the preset’s texture from your extra grain

Open Advanced for Grain and Vignette. They start at 0 and 0, respectively. Those values describe added effects: several presets already contain their own texture or darkened corners.

Lowering the overall blend reduces the preset’s built-in effects. Extra grain and edge darkening remain independent, so a minimum-strength color treatment can still have texture. For detailed grain size and roughness controls, use the separate Add Film Grain tool. Check corner subjects before adding more edge darkening.

Match the mood across photos with different lighting

Begin with the same preset across a set, then compare the pictures together. A sunny outdoor scene and a dim interior start with different colors and contrast. Identical settings apply the same treatment but do not guarantee matching results.

Reduce the blend where faces become too tinted or shadows become too heavy. If the source needs exposure or color-cast correction, use Photo Enhancer before styling it. A nostalgic treatment can make a recent photo look aged, but it does not repair an actual damaged print or reproduce a specific film stock.

Keep a source copy before saving a filtered version

The browser reads the selected photo and creates a new result locally. The processing path does not upload the picture, although the website still needs network requests to load its code and services. The filter presets run in a compatible mobile or desktop browser without a separate editing app.

Keep the original file for later edits. The result is a rendered picture, not a file of adjustable filter layers. Its format can change, and saving can use compression. Very large sources may also shrink to fit the device, so check the saved dimensions when they matter for print or layout.

Changing a photo’s tones or turning it into artwork

These presets use fixed color calculations, without an AI model generating image content. They can give a picture a different mood, but do not turn its outlines into brushwork or supply a new scene.

   Choose a JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC picture whose colors you want to treat.

2. Set the treatment

   Pick from Look, adjust Intensity, then check the extra texture controls in Advanced.

3. Apply and compare the tones

   Run the filter and move the comparison slider. Inspect skin, shadow detail and the corners before saving.
