Turn a saved WebP into a JPG attachment

A website may send a WebP picture even when you expected a JPEG. If the app you need rejects that file type, conversion makes a new JPG copy from the image your browser can decode. Use it for a document, a listing or a form that explicitly accepts JPG.

Changing the filename alone leaves the WebP data inside. This converter reads the picture and writes JPEG data instead. Keep the source until you have checked the new file in its destination; that destination may also set its own size and dimension limits.

Choose JPG quality around the detail left in the WebP

Start with Quality at its default of 92%. Lower it if the file needs fewer bytes, then inspect small lettering, hair and smooth color gradients. A quality setting controls the JPEG encode; it does not measure how much of the original detail survives.

JPEG compression can change fine detail even when width and height stay the same. A WebP may already contain compression artifacts, and saving those pixels at a higher setting cannot recover what was lost. Make each trial from the original WebP rather than repeatedly converting the last JPG.

JPG cannot store a clear background. The converter places the WebP over white before encoding, so empty areas become white and partly transparent edges blend with that fill. White lettering on a clear background can become hard to see.

There is no control here for choosing another fill color. If a logo or cutout must remain transparent, use the separate WebP to PNG Converter with the source file. Converting the flattened JPG later will not restore the original transparency.

A larger JPG file can hold the same WebP dimensions

The JPG can take more storage than the WebP because its encoding and quality setting are different. Extra bytes do not mean extra pixels or newly recovered texture. Check the saved file size instead of assuming conversion will shrink it.

Decode the WebP on the device holding the file

Use a current browser on a phone or computer that can decode the source WebP. Large images need memory for several full-size canvases. Follow a failed JPEG export’s error message, then retry with a reduced WebP or another browser. There is no verified file-size ceiling that works on every device.

Keep the WebP original for motion and embedded notes

This path writes a still picture, not an animation. An animated WebP that the browser decodes can produce a still JPG, but there is no frame picker or export of the full sequence. Retain the WebP when movement matters.

The JPEG is made from rendered pixels. The converter has no step that copies the original metadata into it, so keep the source for embedded notes or other records. Saving the result creates a separate file; it does not clean up or delete the original from your folders.
