Choose the shape before trimming the photo

The Shape choices are 1:1 Square, 4:5 Instagram portrait, 9:16 Story / Reel, 16:9 YouTube, 3:2, 4:3 or 2:3. The starting choice is 1:1 Square. Each preset takes a rectangle from inside your picture; it does not stretch a face or product to fill a different shape.

A shape is a proportion, not a promised output size. Two photos with the same crop settings can finish at different pixel dimensions. Choose the frame for your intended layout, then check the result dimensions separately.

Keep an off-center subject inside the crop

Use Keep to choose Center, Top, Bottom, Left or Right; the initial setting is Center. The selected side anchors the crop, while the other direction stays centered. For a face near the upper edge, try keeping the upper part; for a product near one side, favor that side.

Increase Zoom for a closer frame, or return to 100% to keep the largest area that fits the chosen shape. There is no freehand box or arbitrary position control. If none of the anchors keeps the details you need, use an editor with a movable selection.

Count the pixels left after a tight crop

Cropping removes part of the picture. It does not enlarge the retained area or rebuild missing detail. Start with the largest useful original and avoid a tighter frame than the job needs. The result reports its resolution and file size.

The crop is drawn at its working pixel dimensions, but the complete export is not guaranteed to be lossless. Large sources can be reduced to fit browser limits before cropping, and some input types are saved with lossy compression. Inspect fine text and edges in the saved result, especially if you will print it.

Frame a portrait post, story cover or thumbnail

Pick the portrait preset for a portrait post, the tall preset for a story cover, or the widescreen preset for a thumbnail. Check faces, product edges and any text near the new boundary. These presets trim a still image; they do not create a video.

A receiving app can still display a different preview or apply its own crop. Review the image there before posting. If you need a specific width and height, finish with Image Resizer. If all the original content must remain, Add Border can pad the picture instead of cutting away its edges.

Crop a local photo and keep the original

The browser reads your chosen file, draws the retained rectangle and creates a separate result. Your image is not uploaded for cropping. The crop editor needs network requests for its code and website services, separate from handling the selected rectangle.

The crop rectangle can be applied to JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC sources. Supported iPhone photos are decoded or converted on the device when needed. The saved type may change, and there is no output-format selector here. Keep the original so you can make a wider crop later; a saved crop alone cannot reveal the discarded edges.

A tighter frame or more room around the subject

This cropper keeps a smaller part of the scene you already have. If the framing is right but the result is too small, the linked upscaler offers larger output dimensions. Enlarging does not restore the exact pixels that were discarded.
