Set the pixel dimensions your destination asks for

Use Custom size under Size to set Width and Height separately. A form that asks for a particular width and height needs both numbers; a width requirement alone does not tell you the shape. The size menu also offers a width-only mode that calculates the height from the source proportions.

Presets fill in a target for you. Compare that target with the destination’s current instructions instead of assuming a named preset meets every upload requirement. After resizing, read the actual resolution beneath the result.

Keep the whole photograph or fill the new rectangle

The Fit choices are Fill and crop, Fit with padding or Stretch; the starting choice is Fill and crop. Cropping fills the target with a centered portion of the photo. Padding keeps the complete frame in proportion and fills the spare space with your chosen color. Stretching uses the entire frame but changes its proportions when the shapes differ.

Choose padding when every person or product edge must remain visible. Choose cropping when the new rectangle must be filled with photography. Avoid stretching a face or circular logo unless the distortion is intentional. For control over which part is trimmed, prepare the composition with the separate Image Cropper first.

Judge smaller pixels separately from a smaller file

Downsizing combines source pixels, so tiny text and fine patterns can lose detail. Enlarging spreads existing information across a larger picture; this resizer does not generate missing texture. Inspect the saved dimensions and view the picture at its intended display size before replacing a source.

A pixel target is different from a KB limit. The result shows both resolution and file size, but these controls do not target an exact number of bytes. If an upload form rejects a correctly sized photo because the file is too large, use Image Compressor for the byte limit.

Check the resized file type and its clear areas

The Save as menu offers Same as original, JPG, PNG or WebP, starting at Same as original. That default follows the supported source format; an HEIC source becomes a lossless raster copy rather than another HEIC file. Choose an output explicitly when another app requires a particular type.

An output that supports transparency can retain clear areas when you resize without padding. The padding mode paints a solid background, including beneath transparent parts of the source. Saving as JPG also removes transparency, using white where no padding color applies.

Resize locally within the browser’s picture limits

Your browser reads the selected photo and calculates the resized copy on the device. The processing path does not upload that photo. The website still loads code over the network, and some file types need additional decoding or encoding code.

A large source or target may exceed the canvas size available on a phone or computer. The engine reduces dimensions to fit those limits and reports when the requested output was reduced. If exact dimensions matter, check the result rather than relying on the numbers you selected.

When the new shape needs scenery beyond the frame

A wider wallpaper or taller layout can leave a choice between cutting away part of the picture and adding plain margins. This resizer only rearranges the image you supply. It cannot paint the room, sky or landscape outside its edges.
